Ting: The Little Device That Helps Prevent Home Fires

Fire safety is about more than just property

Insurance conversations about home fires usually focus on property damage. As ProtectALL Insurance CEO Judy Sivy puts it, “We don’t talk enough about something even more important: the safety of you, your family and your pets.”

For this video, Judy did something a little different. She filmed it in her own home, unboxed a Ting sensor and set it up on camera to show how easy it is.

What is Ting?

Ting is a small sensor that plugs into an ordinary wall outlet. From that single outlet, it monitors the electrical system in your whole home 24/7.

If Ting spots something in your wiring that could lead to a house fire, it alerts you through the Ting app. That gives you the chance to get the problem fixed before it turns into the aftermath, and the devastation, of a fire in your home.

Setting up Ting takes about two minutes

Here’s what Judy did in the video:

  1. Open the box. The first thing inside is a QR code. Scan it to get the Ting Sensor app.
  1. Plug it in. Pick any outlet in your home. Ting can go anywhere, and the light comes on once it has power.
  1. Download the app. Turn on Bluetooth and location so the app can find the sensor.

Once the test is complete, Ting starts watching your home’s electrical system around the clock.

Free for Nationwide clients, plus help with repairs

Nationwide is offering Ting to its clients free of charge. On top of that, you can get up to $1,000 toward repairs that Ting identifies, so the problem can be fixed before a fire happens.
